A BCM is defined as a computer component in a vehicle that operates, regulates and checks the vehicle's electronic devices. When vehicles first began coming equipped with electronic devices, there existed a separate module for every device.
Pay attention to your vehicle. When a BCM is malfunctioning, the electronic components of the vehicle will begin acting in strange ways and not working properly. Some of the possible causes of a malfunctioning BCM include the clock on the radio not keeping its time and reverting to when the vehicle is turned off, then turned on again.
Check to make sure all the electronic devices are working properly. If you use a key fob to lock and unlock the doors, the function may not work. Turn the radio and CD player on. Sometimes a CD player will stop playing a CD and will begin broadcasting a radio station. The frequency of these actions depends on the severity of the malfunctioning BCM. Check the fuse box if you suspect that your vehicle's BCM is on the blink. Make sure all the fuses are in good shape. If any are burnt out, replace them immediately.
If you have replaced blown fuses and you are still experiencing problems with your vehicle, take it to the dealer so the mechanics there can run a diagnostics test on the vehicle. Take your vehicle to Auto Zone or Checker or another similar auto parts store. They also have the capabilities to run a diagnostic test on your vehicle if you are short on time or can't take it in to the dealer.
The only drawback to taking it to an auto parts store is that, most of the time, the person performing the diagnostic test can't read the code and will refer you to a dealer, anyway.

I'm currently driving the boss's VZ - S Ute whilst he's overseas, and am experiencing some issues with the indicators. This afternoon I'd noticed that the indicators both externally and upon the dash do not work at all.
In fact the left and right turn signals don't actually have any typical clicking sounds coming from the flasher relay BCM? When I select the hazards, the hazard relay can be heard, however none of the indicators operate either. Can the problems I'm experiencing by related to the Body Control Module? I'm hoping to find a solution asap to reduce the risk of driving without indicators.

I've had the scope on all 4 O2 sensors and they are exactly as I would expect to see. I've swapped bank 1 and bank 2 sensors and it continues to throw the code on only bank 2. The local Holden dealer has not been much help they sound like they have no idea what their talking aboutso if possible I would like to update it myself.
I understand we will have to purchase a subscription to Tis2Web 3 day one or whatever. We have a Autoland Sciencetech VeDis11 scan tool capable of J pass through, however we have never used it for this purpose. I've never done this before and don't want to stuff it up, so was wondering if someone could give me a run down of the procedure. Do I have to ensure I can reprogram keys after its done?

It is hard to 'stuff it up', you must follow all TIS instructions as shown which are very basic they are written for techs As for your pass through I have no idea, we use Tech2 and drewtech. Have you tried swapping or replacing the cats. I use tech2 and my standalone version of tis and it works well. It's monitoring the downstream O2 sensor and comparing to the upstream to confirm the cat is working. Havnt swapped cats as they are different between left and right so can't. Don't really want to outlay for a new cat if it doesn't fix the problem. The cats havnt been bashed out or damaged. Have already eliminated exhaust leaks possibly letting O2 into the exhaust stream and causing it, have removed and applied sealer to the exhaust joins.
I believe the problem is the cat is slightly inefficient, and the PCM is too stringent on what it calls a fail. If GM has a calibration update for it then that kind of confirms its being too stringent, or they had the problem and decided on a calibration update instead of replacing heaps of cats under warranty.
Whatever the reason I'm certain the re calibration will fix it. No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower! Just starting out? We have released a video review on the car and even covered the common faults that relate to the V6 Commodore timing chain.
That issue seems to plague these vehicles. After releasing both of these forms of vehicle reviews, we have copped a fair chunk of flack from various consumers. In response to this we have decided to address the issues with these vehicles once again with a straight to the point, what we think and why.
The VE Commodore is not a particularly good choice of vehicle for a number of reasons. We will address just a few of the common issues we see daily in our workshop. By buying a VE Commodore, new in its day or second hand now, you are willingly putting your hand up to be a guinea-pig to test the new platform.
The single greatest issue is the timing chain fault that the V6 engine is very common for. Unfortunately the Holden V6 is known for stretched timing chains which is a very costly fix.
Sticking with the V6 engine for now, there are other common faults these engines have. The Hydraulic lifters are known for getting very noisy and creating noises that can lead people to misdiagnose the above mentioned timing chain fault as the cause.
Noisy lifters are a common issue with the VE Commodore. To fix this the top of the inlet manifold has to be removed the spark plugs replaced or cleaned and reassembled. On a side note, these spark plugs are iridium plugs which makes replacing them rather expensive.
The main battery location in the boot or behind seats in the utilities, seem to be causing semi common problems with voltage drop becoming excessive. This is relatively easily fixed but requires owners to spend a few quid on a battery with substantial CCA Cold Cranking Amps to combat the problem. The Engine mounts always split, with the passenger one failing first due to the torque of the engine, causing it to twist under acceleration. The V6 thermostat location is ridiculous.
There are many different opinions on what the best way to tackle this job is. Transmission out, manifold off or have tiny hands.

It sounds very odd. I doubt its a transmission problem from what your saying. I would get a reputable mechanic to give it the once over including a scan of the control modules before committing to buy this car. I have a VE wagon that the check engine ligjt keeps coming on. Could it be E10 fuel.
